:News:

16.06.08 - On a sunny morning in Dawlish our semi-finalists rolled up one by one to audition AGAIN but this time for a spot in the final. At just after midday our three audition judges Carl Fisher, Richard Stevens and Julia Clark selected nine people to go through to August's finals. That afternoon the chosen nine remained, learnt and rehearsed a 3 piece group medley to perform for family, friends and carnival committee members that same day just 5 hours later. With nerves running high they came out with their performances of I Want You Back, Kids in America and Breaking Free with a superb round of applause at the end for the effort and work they had put in that day.

Next up will be 2 months of selecting songs, learning lyrics and how to perform their song together with further additions to their group sets to be performed at a number of locations across the district between now and August 18th. Tickets for the final go on sale from Saturday 9th August.

17/05/08 - This weekend we held the first round of auditions, at the Manor House in Dawlish, despite the bad weather it turned out to be a very successful day with many entrees going through to the semi-finals. With a ride range of vocal talent, different personalities, and skills the competition is already starting to take place.

Our next stop will be Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey, and the back for one last chance in Dawlish, so if you haven't auditioned yet, and want to be in with the chance of becoming the Carnival Idol for 2008, be sure to come to the auditions.

Good Luck!

15/04/08 - Carnival Idol prepares for a brand new season, with a bigger and better than before. This time visiting various towns over Teignbridge for wider audition venues. They will be visiting Dawlish, Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey and returning to Dawlish for the Grand Final with the returning judges, Mark, Julia, Terry and Fiona. The competition this year will be open to 11 - 18 year olds in the Teignbridge area.

The Producer and Director have been working hard to prepare for this year, and are sure that all the hard work will be well worth it. Unfortunately due to other commitments our musical director has had to step down, and we wish him well in the future, luckily his position has been filled.

So here's to a new and refreshed season, we hope to see you audition at one of our audition venues, and if you think you can sing? then let it be heard!

15/08/07 - That's Carnival Idol over for the first year, and what a fantastic night it was, with all 9 performances being very strong and to the top standards, there had to be one winner, which was a very hard decision for the 4 Judges and the audience, but in the end the winner was announced as Georgia Hodder. Little did she know that in just 48 hours she was going to performing her song once again live on stage with Judge Mark Price. She was then later invited to watch a concert featuring East 17, Pulse and others by another Judge Terry Mills.

So until next years event and big thank you goes out to all those who helped at auditions and rehearsals, our judges, those who came to watch and most importantly our finalist for being such great sports, well done!
